Sorry for not much updates lately.
Anyways I spent the weekend of May 31,and June 1st at Cedar Point in Sandusky Ohio
Perfect weather on both days, Heavy crowds on the 31st, Sunday the first, the park was nearly dead, with all most everything a walk on, Yay
Even better since I was staying with friends in an RV at the Lighthouse Point Campground right behind the Mean Streak Wooden Roller Coaster, we all got in an hour early with other resort guests.
Oh yeah, I should mention that i have ridden all but 4 of the roller coasters, so that means I rode about 11 out of 16:
- Blue Streak, (A classic John Allen designed wooden Out and Back coaster & built by Philadelphia Toboggan Company for the 1964 season , the oldest coaster at the park, at 50 years old)
- Cedar Creek Mine Ride
- Corkscrew ( Built by Arrow Dynamics, was the one of the first, if not the original coaster to flip riders head over heels 3 times in its track, and the first corkscrew to be built on a park midway)
- Gatekeeper ( Built by Bolliger & Mabillard, GateKeeper is the tallest, fastest and longest wing roller coaster in the world!
Fly through acrobatic turns and rolls as you coast up and over the park's main entrance. GateKeeper's trains then "thread" riders through two keyholes - built into giant towers that now provide a stunning first impression as you enter the park.) Cedar Point had a brilliant idea to revitalize the aging front gate while adding a stunning Winged coaster to their arsenal of insane coasters, even better, two giant Barrel Rolls threaded through two giant Key Holes on massive towers framing the front entrance - Gemini ( a steel tubular tracked Racer built on a wooden frame)
- Iron Dragon ( one of Arrow's original suspended coasters that paved the way for the world renowned Inverted coasters) I rode her 4 times
- Magnum XL 200 ( The first coaster to go beyond 200 feet in height, paving the way for all of today's modern 300 foot behemoths)
- Maverick ( a launched coaster from Intamin, like no other with a 95 degree drop, and multiple corkscrews throughout it's scenic twisting path next to Lake Erie)
- Mean Streak ( A huge wooden coaster situated next to the Lighthouse point campground, and built with 1.7 Million Board feet of Southern Yellow Pine)
- Millennium Force ( This coaster is so huge at 310 feet, that they had to coin the term of a "Giga Coaster" which is any coaster above 300 feet in height, and an 80 degree 300 foot drop to start this ride)
- Raptor ( A B&M Inverted coaster, as the name implies, on this wild ride your snatched up by a bird of prey with 6 inversions, all the while your hanging underneath the track)
I did not ride the Top Thrill Dragster, the first coaster to go beyond 400 feet, and coining the term of a Strata Coaster, at 428 feet, It's the world's second Tallest freestanding coaster with a 128 MPH launch
The wicked Twister, an inverted Impulse coaster, or Mantis, the stand Up looping coaster, or the two kiddie coasters.
I also rode all but 3 of the park's flat rides : MaxxAir( Huss Giant Frisbee 145 feet tall) the screaming swing, or the Power Tower
I did not ride any of the River rapids, or the two log flumes either, Did not do anything from the challenge park or soak city water park
